Introduction to print making with Elaine Winter – Learn a little about the history of printmaking and about the difference between relief and intaglio techniques. You will be introduced to different kinds of printing blocks and plates, tools, and how to print. You will get to create some very painterly print-making with immediate results by doing your own mono-print pieces.


Creative Textiles; Print and Stitch with Janet Gilbert. Manipulate repeat motifs through screen printing on fabric to create subtle layers of colour, which is then embellished by hand stitching.


Introduction to linocut with Elaine Winter – Get to know the basics of how to make a linocut print. You will learn how to handle and use the lino cutting tools, how to make an effective linocut design, translate that design onto a lino block and print it well, all without a press.


Creative printmaking with Elaine Winter – In this session you will be encouraged and supported to experiment with your printmaking skills and combine them to make your own unique prints. You will be able to print on different types of papers and make unique pieces.


Design for printmaking stamps for paper and fabric with Elaine Winter – In this session you will learn very accessible relief-printing techniques, which you will be able to use without the need for a press and so can continue experimenting with at home. You will be able to make simple but effective printmaking stamps and use them to print on paper and textiles. If you would like to you will be able to print your designs onto a cotton tote bag (provided) using fabric inks.


Drawing Differently with Elaine Winter -Using a wide range of techniques and strategies to improve your hand/eye co-ordination and observation skills to enable you to draw shape and space (including negative space) better. You will improve your drawing by getting a better understanding of how it is a physical act (and it will be fun too!). We will work on mood and tone and get to draw with a range of different materials.


Stripes and Squeegees with acrylic paints with Liz Goulding – Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. A fun yet challenging workshop which really loosens up your painting techniques, experimenting with emotive colour palettes and a wide range of mark making techniques, the morning is spent exploring the expressive potential of mark making and the afternoon using the resulting rich layered papers to compose a finished composition in collage.


Expressive landscape painting with oils or acrylics with Liz Goulding – Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. Liz will take you through step by step exploring colour, mark-making and composition to develop your own artistic language. Working from your own photos/drawings or from a choice of studio images of landscape. You will come away from the day with a finished painting on canvas and inspiration for further development


Expressive abstract painting with acrylics with Liz Goulding – Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. Liz will guide you through an exploration of your own creative response with colour, mark-making and composition leading to a resolved abstract piece. This workshop really “loosens you up” and unleashes your inner abstract monster!


Expressive Portrait Painting with acrylic paints with Liz Goulding -Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. Liz will take you through step by step exploring colour, mark-making and composition to develop your own artistic language. Work from
your own photos and capture the likeness of a loved one or from a choice of studio
photographs. You will come away from the day with a finished painting on canvas and inspiration for further development.


Expressive still life painting with oils or acrylics with Liz Goulding -Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. Working from a still life set up in the studio Liz will take you through step by step exploring colour, mark-making and composition to develop your own artistic language. You will come away from the day with a finished painting on canvas and inspiration for further development


Expressive Painting in the Garden with acrylic paints with Liz Goulding-Suitable for wherever you are on your artistic journey from complete beginner to more experienced artists. Liz will take you through step by step exploring colour, mark-making and composition to develop your own artistic language. We will explore a variety of approaches taking the garden as our inspiration. Plein air if weather allows. You will come away from the day with a finished painting on canvas and inspiration for further development.


Creative Rag rug hooking with Debra Tatham– Explore the technique of rag rug hooking and discover some of its history in this hands-on workshop with local textile artist Debra Tatham. You will be using traditional tools and techniques to creatively repurpose used clothing, which can be developed into wall hangings and rugs. Tools and frames and materials are provided, but feel free to bring along old socks and jumpers of your own to recycle to create your own unique design.


Introduction to digital painting with Herbie Wiersma– Learn the basics of making digital paintings with free software. You will make a picture and in the process set up and use layers, colours and brushes. Provided you are able to use simple apps you will have the opportunity to explore free tools which can expand your range of artistic skills. You will need to bring a laptop (PC or Mac) . If you have a graphics tablet bring it along too, although there will be some available for you to try. A worksheet will be provided for you to take away and practice with.
